Mark Rypien Leads the Harrah’s Team to Victory in Lake Tahoe Celebrity-Amateur Tournament on Tuesday, July 8

Mark Rypien led the Harrah’s team to win the Tuesday Lake Tahoe Celebrity-Am Tuesday at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, the kick-off event for the 2008 American Century Championship Celebrity Golf Tournament.

Rypien partnered with AJ, AJ Jr., Eric, and Carissa Villalobos in the Shamble Format with a Modified Stableford score of 57 points.

In a Shamble, every player hits a tee shot and from the point of the best drive, each finishes the hole. Players receive 60 percent of their handicap. Points are awarded based on eagles, birdies, pars and bogeys.

Billy Joe Tolliver’s team, Odyssey One Source, finished with 53 points taking second. David Williams, Aaron Fry, Perry Gillum, and Jerry Brown flew in from Texas to join Tolliver.

Lynn Swan joined John Steinbach, Sean Schaeffer, Bill Cottrill, and Wayne Ikeuchi on the Embassy Suites team to take third with 52 points.

Players on the winning team each received a $300 gift certificate for shoes and balls from TaylorMade for each player.

The second and third place teams each won $250 and $200 gift certificates, respectively.
